OOC: starting the note now since I need something to do.
Kamden had dressed not in the canidate uniforms. BUt in a long sleeve tuinic and pants. Making sure both sleeves and legs were tight as possible at the cuffs. This was not obviously the first time he had to go hunting tunnel snakes.
"Canidate Kamden reporting for duty Sir, Mam'm. HW Linneaus." He said with a goofy grin as soon as he neared her...

River headed to the lower caverns in search of Linnaeus for mornign chores. He wasn't thrilled at the prospect of killing tunnel snakes, but chores weren't always made to be fun. He wondered if Lena had better luck with chore draw? Looking around, River recognized Kamden who also bunked in the same room.
"Hey," he said to Kamden. "You hear to get snakes too?"

"Fast little buggers," River said, shaking his head. "Still, it's not a chore I fancy doing. I'd trade catching tunnel snakes for double duty mucking the stables." Shrugging, he added "But that's just me. I grew up in a small runnerhold."

Elliana hesitated at the entrance to the Lower Caverns. Why the sharding shells should SHE be expected to kill tunnel snakes? That was drudge work. Still, she had had a recent coversation with a particular dragonrider that more than hinted that if she didn't start showing up to chores she would be tied up at Hatching and NOT be allowed to Stand.
So, here she was.
"What I put up for my Gold," she murmured under her breath before walking up to the others.

Natan hurried to catch up with his assigned chore group, he rounded a corner to notice that he was the only one out of the group missing it seemed, “er, sorry for being a bit late n all,” he said with a slightly sheepish reserved grin and he rubbed one hand over his stubble.
He walked over to join the others, nodding to each one and glancing around. Though he was late he looked fit for tunnel snake hunting with a worn simple tunic and roughened trousers held up by a much used leather belt. Over his shoulder was slung a bulk looking bag.
“Though I promise me being late was not without reason. I figure if we hafta kill ourselves some snakes we should be prepared, so I brought us some things to help with that. A bit oh a trick you see.. I hope you don’t mind me taking that liberty Ma’am,” he stated with a warmer grin, and a polite nod to the head women.
A scruffy looking tom sauntered down the hallway and joined Natan where he sat by the lad and groomed himself, paying no head to anyone. It seemed the feline would be joining them...

Linneaus arrived, a few sacks and some wicked looking metal hooks. She also carried a brace of knives. She looked around. "What Elliana? Couldn't find a way out of chores?" she asked with a smirk on her face.
"Right. Listen up. You're going to search the back tunnels for snakes. Here's your hook. You pin their head down with the hook and then someone else cuts off their heads. You should work in teams of two. Once it's dead, put it in the bag. If you see a poisonous one, use the pointy end of the hook to stab it first. If you don't know which ones are poisonous, stab them all. Any questions?"

Linneaus shot him one of her smirks. The type that would imply that she always knew more than he did, including all the things that he didn't want her to know. "I wasn't just saying it for your benefit."
"Well, since you're all so well educated, when you're done, you can skin the non-poisonous ones and save the meat for the flits, and the hides we'll need to dry for writing sheets." Cheeky little bugger.

River grimaced. Now they'd have to skin them too? Joy. But Lena would like if he brought back some meat for her little green troublemaker. So the girl was Elliana. River sized up the group quickly, deciding who was likely to do their fair share of the work. Finally he walked over to Natan.
"Hey, I'm River," he said. "Want to work together?"

Natan looked over at River assessing for a moment and then thrust out his hand with a reserved but jovial grin, “nice ta meet ya… I’m Natan,” he nodded and then added further, “Sure I don’t mind working with you, it’s better to work in teams.”
He turned away then picked up a hook, offering it to River, “I got some other useful things in this bag… some stuff to use as bait, nets and traps in case they get tricky to catch…”

Elliana watched Kamden make his bow and she nodded her head to him. "I've never done this before," she said, truthfully. "I don't know the difference between the tunnel snakes... I hope you do."
She held a jute sack in one hand where the skins were to be placed and frowned at it. She hoped she didn't get anything on her nice clothes... and she hoped she didn't get bit. It would not do to end up spending time in the Infirmary and end up missing a Hatching or something important.

Kamden grinned his normal sexy smile. And aet his arm around the girl's shoulder. "Sweety when you grow up in the weyr you hunt the snakes from before you can stand for a hatching!." He chuckled and picked up his things.
He kissed the side of her head and whispered. "I'll do what I can to keep you from getting dirty."

Elliana stood there for a moment in shock before shrugging his arm off her shoulder. "You presume too much," she murmured, but her heart wasn't in it. He was one of the first here to not get all upset and angry at her for no reason. She didn't know why the others hated her; after all, she couldn't help being born to such high rank and they to low.
"In my father's hold, we paid others to do this job," she said quietly, almost pouting. "I've never seen a Tunnel snake in my life."
